Positioning "You"

I started college as an interior design major and completed two semesters in that major. I soon decided it was not for me and switched to Public Relations. I loved to write and my interpersonal communications skills were pretty good and I figured it would be a good fit. I was not really sure what kind of career I wanted to pursue until recently when I decided to mesh the two majors together and join the event planning industry.
According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, public relations jobs will rise 18 percent in the next eight years. Employment for these jobs will grow faster than average, which means keen competition for those just entering the field. This means that I am going to have to work my hardest and do my best in order to enter into the field. The average income for a person working in public relations is $47,350. The income is lower for entry-level positions but I am willing to forfeit large amounts of money for experience in the field.
I would love to be involved in not only weddings but in other areas as well. I would like to plan and organize corporate banquets and marketing events. This is why I chose Riehl Events as the company I would like to work for. This company has done everything from the Sundance Film Festival to the USA women’s' ski jumping team and even helped create events for the food network and HGTV. The list of their clients is extensive and includes many celebrities. According to their website, this company is looking for someone who is creative, innovative and hard working. With the knowledge that I now have, it is time to prepare myself for this job in the near future.
